Specialist website design for law firms, solicitors and legal practices.
Marketing Lawyers is a digital marketing agency that works exclusively with law firms. We’ve designed and built over 50 law firm websites, from sole practitioners launching a new firm to multi-partner practices and national practices.
As one of the most well-known legal sector marketing agencies we design websites for easy navigation, content that connects with clients and design that leads clients to key information. We understand the specific compliance requirements, trust signals, and conversion mechanics that legal clients expect and the SRA requires.
From content to SEO and AI visibility to form functionality, our in-house team has helped shape the digital presence of many law firms in the UK and internationally. Whether you need an off-the-shelf website, a landing page for Google Ads or a fully bespoke redesign with custom functionality and integrations, we have experience in designing beautiful websites for the legal sector.
Unlike a generalist web design agency, we build every site around two things a law firm website cannot get wrong: SRA compliance and conversions. A law firm website is regulated marketing material as much as it is a shop window. We understand the trust signals legal clients look for and the transparency rules the SRA requires, because that’s the only sector we work in.

SRA Compliance and Regulatory Requirements for Law Firm Websites
A law firm website isn’t simply a marketing tool. It’s regulated marketing material, and getting the compliance elements wrong can trigger regulatory action. Every website we design is built with these obligations from the outset, not retrofitted afterwards.
What the SRA Transparency Rules require
Under the SRA Transparency Rules, firms providing services in the following areas must publish pricing and service information on their website:
- Residential conveyancing
- Motoring offences
- Employment tribunal claims
- Immigration
- Probate
- Debt recovery
- Licensing applications
- Housing disrepair claims
- Personal injury claims
Price information must set out the total cost or how costs are calculated, the experience level of those handling the matter, and any other key facts about the service. We build dedicated pricing and transparency pages as standard, not as an add-on.
Other mandatory website requirements
Every law firm website must also include:
- Regulatory information in the footer, including SRA authorisation number
- The SRA Digital Badge, correctly implemented
- A clear complaints procedure with a link to the Legal Ombudsman
- A compliant cookie policy and privacy policy under UK GDPR
- Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) information
- Required company or partnership information
What Makes a Great Law Firm Website
Having designed over 50 law firm websites and worked with 100+ firms across our services, we know what actually converts in legal web design, not just what looks good in a portfolio.
User experience and navigation
Legal clients aren’t shopping. They’re often dealing with a stressful situation and need to find information fast. Navigation has to be built around the target client’s mental model, not the firm’s internal department structure.
Over 60% of legal website visits now happen on mobile. Contact details and calls to action need to sit above the fold on a mobile screen, not three scrolls down.
Calls to action that match how legal clients actually convert
Across thousands of enquiries tracked on our client base, the phone remains the dominant conversion method for legal services. We typically build sites around a single, clearly displayed, click-to-call enquiries number rather than splitting attention across multiple contact routes.
Forms need to be short and need to be tested for deliverability. A form that silently fails to reach the right inbox is the most common cause of “our website doesn’t generate enquiries” that we see when auditing a new client’s existing site.
Content structure and depth
Thin service pages don’t rank, with either Google or AI search engines. We build a content hierarchy that supports both:
- Top-level practice area pages (Family Law, Corporate Law, Property Law)
- Sub-service pages beneath each (under Family Law: Divorce, Financial Settlements, Child Arrangements, Prenuptial Agreements)
- Insights and blog content supporting key search terms and demonstrating expertise
- Team profile pages that build credibility and support Google’s E-E-A-T signals
Trust signals
Legal clients are making high-stakes decisions, and trust determines whether a visitor picks up the phone. Every site we build incorporates:
- Client reviews and testimonials, integrated with Google Reviews or ReviewSolicitors
- Legal directory accreditations, including Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 rankings where held
- Awards and industry recognition
- Media coverage and press mentions
- Regulatory accreditations (Lexcel, SQM, Law Society, SRA badge, specialist panel memberships)
- Named lawyer profiles with credentials and experience
SEO and AI surfacing (GEO)
Every website we design is built with organic search performance in mind: page structure, headings, internal linking, metadata and schema markup are part of our standard build, not an upsell.
We also design with Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) in mind, structuring content so it can be cited and referenced in AI-generated answers. That’s increasingly the first interaction a potential client has with a firm, before they ever land on the website itself.
Accessibility and performance
Law firm websites need to be accessible to users with disabilities, and we build with this as a baseline requirement. Nearly 50% of users expect a page to load in under 2 seconds; unoptimised images and bloated page files are the most common cause of firms losing that window.
Our Law Firm Website Design Process
- Discovery and target client profiling. We start by understanding the firm’s practice areas, target clients, competitive position and growth ambitions. This shapes every decision that follows.
- Navigation and information architecture. Before any design work starts, we map the full site structure: top-level pages, practice area hierarchies, team structure and required functionality.
- Brand review and visual direction. We assess whether the firm’s existing brand is fit for purpose digitally, and select colour palette, typography, imagery style and tone.
- Homepage and key page design. The homepage is designed first to establish the visual language for the site, and signed off before we proceed further.
- Full site build. All service pages, team profiles, contact pages, insights sections and additional functionality are built out.
- We write or review all copy. We’ve written many hundreds of legal service pages and know the balance between search optimisation and genuine client communication.
- Compliance review. A full pre-launch review covering SRA transparency requirements, regulatory footer information, GDPR documentation, SRA badge implementation and cookie policy.
- Testing, QA and launch. Cross-device and cross-browser testing, form checks, Core Web Vitals review and a pre-launch SEO audit.
- Post-launch support. Ongoing maintenance, updates and digital marketing support. Most clients continue working with us after launch.
Most projects take three to four months from instruction to launch. Larger sites, migrations with significant existing content, or complex functionality can take up to six months. Smaller launch sites for new firms can be completed in a matter of weeks, depending on sign-off speed.
“I cannot speak more highly of the service that I received from the team. I love my website so much but genuinely thought that having a site created would be stressful — I could not have been more wrong. The feedback I have received from people has been amazing.”

Law Firm Website Design by Specialism
We design websites across all practice areas, which means we can speak directly to the right clients, use the right tone, and address the specific compliance requirements for each.
Family Law — Family law clients are often in emotionally difficult situations. Tone and structure need to balance approachability with professional credibility. Sub-service pages for divorce and finances, child arrangements, prenuptial agreements and cohabitation disputes are standard.
Personal Injury and Accident Claims — A highly competitive search landscape where conversion rate optimisation, clear calls to action and strong trust signals are essential. SRA Transparency Rules apply. We’ve built for both claimant solicitor firms and claims management companies.
Corporate and Commercial Law — A sophisticated B2B audience needs a different visual register and tone to consumer-facing practices. Sub-service pages for M&A, shareholder agreements, commercial contracts, corporate finance and restructuring are typical. We understand how to position against City competitors.
Employment Law — Firms typically serve both employees and employers, often on different matters, so the site structure needs to segment the two audiences without creating confusion. SRA Transparency Rules apply to tribunal claims.
Private Client — Wills, probate, lasting powers of attorney and estate planning need a tone of authority and sensitivity. SRA Transparency Rules apply to probate services. Online quote calculators and guide downloads work well as lead generation tools here.
Immigration Law — High complexity, a broad client base from individuals to businesses. SRA Transparency Rules apply. Multilingual considerations and complex service hierarchies are common requirements.
Criminal Defence and Motoring Law — Clients are often searching in urgent or distressing circumstances and need immediate reassurance. SRA Transparency Rules apply to motoring offences.
Law Firm Website Design Costs
We offer a range of packages, from off-the-shelf solutions for new or small practices to fully bespoke platforms for established regional, national or international firms.
Costs depend on the size of the site, the volume of content required, the level of bespoke design and any additional functionality. All costs are agreed in advance with no hidden fees, and full project costings are provided on request.
(VAT only charged where applicable.)

- Family Law In The City — boutique family law practice
- Seymour Law — Jersey law
- Moss Solicitors — small firm, single office

Further portfolio examples are available on request as we progress through design discussions.
Law Firm Landing Pages
As an alternative to a full website, we also build single landing pages for use with PPC campaigns, designed to capture attention, deliver a personalised user experience and drive conversions for a specific practice area or service.
RFP Support for Website Design
We can help firms build a clear, comprehensive RFP so that both the firm and the web development team share a common understanding of project requirements and goals, which is useful if you need support drafting a brief before you’re ready to appoint an agency.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to build a law firm website?
Most projects take three to four months from instruction to launch, allowing time for discovery, design, content writing, build, compliance review and testing. Larger or more complex sites, particularly migrations involving significant existing content, may take up to six months or longer. Smaller launch sites for new practices can be completed in a few weeks where sign-off is prompt.
Do you only work with law firms?
Yes. Marketing Lawyers works exclusively with law firms, solicitors, legal practices and suppliers to the legal sector. This focus means our understanding of regulatory requirements, content, client behaviour and competitive search in law is genuinely specialist rather than generic.
Do you write the content, or do we?
Either. We’ve written many thousands of legal service pages and blogs and understand how to structure content for both search performance and client conversion. Many clients prefer us to write all or most of the content; others provide drafts for us to work from. For firms with existing content, we carry out a full content audit and advise on what to retain, rewrite or expand.
What happens to our SEO when we redesign?
A redesign is one of the most common causes of organic ranking loss for law firms. URL changes, reduced content depth, removed pages and broken internal links can all cause significant drops in performance. We carry out a thorough pre-migration audit and implement full redirect mapping before any redesign goes live.
Do you handle the SRA badge and compliance requirements?
Yes. Every website we build meets SRA requirements, including correct implementation of the SRA Digital Badge, regulatory footer information, Transparency Rule compliance for relevant practice areas, and all required GDPR documentation. This is part of our standard process, not an add-on.
Can you redesign an existing website rather than building from scratch?
Yes. This can involve a full visual redesign, a content overhaul, a technical rebuild on a new platform, or a combination of all three. We carry out a full audit before making any recommendations.
What platform do you build on?
WordPress is our primary platform, using custom development and specialist legal design work. We’ve also worked with Joomla, custom CMS platforms, Webflow and Wix where required.
Do you help with digital marketing after launch?
Yes. The majority of our website clients continue working with us after launch on SEO, PPC, content marketing or GEO. We offer ongoing monthly support packages and can manage the full digital marketing function for a firm, or work alongside an in-house team.
