We have a team of consultants who have the expertise and experience to support your application or assessment for Lexcel Accreditation.
We can work with law firms to develop or refine quality management procedures as well as other relevant documentation setting out the legal framework under which a firm operates.
Lexcel is a quality standard that was designed specifically for the legal sector. It helps to ensure better client care and improves client retention and profitability.
Before applying for a Lexcel assessment, your firm needs to have evidence that it has been Lexcel compliant for at least 3 months. We can assess your procedures and where you are at with an audit or help you implement them from scratch. Whatever the level of support you need we are flexible and will provide you with a low cost and bespoke quote.

What is Lexcel?
Lexcel is the Law Society’s practice management standard. It is a scheme for any type of law practice to certify that certain standards have been met following an independent assessment. Lexcel accredited practices undergo rigorous independent assessment every year to ensure they meet required standards of excellence in areas such as client care, case management and risk management.
In order to achieve accreditation, you must submit an application form and pass a subsequent assessment by an independent assessment body. Lexcel accreditation is awarded for three years but there are annual re-accreditation and monitoring visits to ensure continual compliance.
The Benefits Of Lexcel
Those firms who have implemented Lexcel have seen benefits in terms of issues such as better client care, improved matter handling and in many cases, profitability.
Unlike many other quality standards, Lexcel was written specifically for the legal profession and so addresses those issues which are of relevance to law firms. It can help firms to achieve a level of consistency of approach across the whole firm and as a result, enable it to manage service delivery and thus reduce claims and complaints.
Implementing Lexcel has other advantages too:
- Many indemnity insurers take a positive view of those firms who have attained the Lexcel standard therefore, reducing your professional indemnity insurance (PII) premiums.
- It can be seen as a way of differentiating the firm in terms of its attention to detail and quality of service.
- You can use Lexcel as an indicator of competence and best value.
- For legal aid contracts
How Much Will The Assessment Cost?
The cost and duration of your assessment will be worked out based on the number of fee earners and support staff you have in your firm.
There is also an annual practice registration fee payable to the Law Society when your Lexcel application form is submitted. This is divided into different bands depending on the firm’s size.
