Fourth in the series of legal marketing interviews, this time with Liam Stein – Commercial Litigation Solicitor at Seth Lovis & Co.
How did you start in law?
After I had completed my LPC I was fortunate enough to obtain a paralegal position at a firm of solicitors in Amersham, Buckinghamshire specialising in debt recovery.
Did doing business as well as law at University help you in becoming qualified or has it aided you in any other way?
I chose the course specifically for its business modules as at the time I felt it would be useful to gain a wider knowledge of other areas outside of my law degree. My course as a whole was helpful in that it gave me a basic understanding of management and investments which helps when dealing with clients.
Have you seen any changes in the industry since you started?
I believe that since I qualified 2 years ago the legal profession as a whole is working hard to rebuild its reputation. The focus has shifted towards improving client care and offering value for money.
What’s the best thing about working in the legal sector?
The scope of work and the variety of clients you come across every day in the office.

We are encouraged to network where possible through social activities or attending workshops/seminars put on by different firms/chambers within the legal sector.
What do you think the future has in store for the Comm’ Lit’ sector?
I believe the future is bright and exciting for the Comm Lit sector. The need for dispute resolution is growing with more people seeking legal advice to assist with everyday issues.
